Standing in an elevated position in a quiet, predominantly residential area close to the Taoro Park, Tigaiga Suites offer spacious accommodation with a relaxed, personal ambience in a lovely garden setting. Formerly known as the Florasol Aparthotel, the building was recently taken over by the Taig family, who have owned and run the nearby Hotel Tigaiga with exemplary care and attention since the 1950s, establishing it as one of Tenerife's most highly regarded hotels.
Before rebranding the apartments as Tigaiga Suites, the Taig family carried out a comprehensive refurbishment to ensure that their new accommodation is of a similarly high standard, whilst appealing to those guests who prefer the independence of self-catering accommodation. Offering a choice of one or two bedrooms, the apartments are of a generous size, and the use of pale colours and clean lines adds to the overall feeling of light and airiness. Each apartment has a comfortable lounge and dining-area with TV and an open-plan kitchen with a two-ring ceramic hob, a microwave, a fridge and a coffeemaker. The bathrooms have a bathtub as well as a separate walk-in shower cubicle, and each apartment has a large terrace with comfortable patio furniture. The two-bedroom apartments are on the first and second floors, and the one-bedroom apartments occupy the top three floors (there are two lifts). All the terraces are south-west facing and staggered to maximise their exposure to the sun. All enjoy lovely views across the gardens towards the Mount Teide, and those on the higher floors also offer sideways glimpses towards the ocean, as does the communal roof terrace (there are a few one-bedroom apartments at the rear of the lower floors which do not have views and are therefore priced more economically).
Whilst the kitchens in each apartment are equipped for basic self-catering, a daily buffet breakfast is included in your stay here, served either in the breakfast room or - weather permitting - on the terrace bordering the beautiful subtropical gardens. Here you will also find the kidney-shaped swimming pool (heatable in winter) surrounded by ample sun-loungers. There is also a tennis court and table tennis. The reception is open from 9 am until noon each day, but should you require any assistance outside the hours, the Hotel Tigaiga is only a short walk away. Maid service is provided 6 days per week.
Free parking is available for those wishing to hire a car to explore this fascinating island in depth, but the Tigaiga Suites also make an excellent base for those who prefer not to drive on holiday. Puerto de la Cruz's old town is approximately 15 minutes' walk away and boasts a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants, and the landscaped volcanic beach Playa Jardin is a similar distance (those with walking difficulties should note that the walk back from the town centre and beach is uphill). Puerto de la Cruz also has good bus links to other parts of the island, making this an ideal choice for those who wish to divide their time between relaxing in lovely gardens, pottering around in the town and using public transport to explore further afield.
