Set on its own within the grounds of a large fruit farm, this charming house is perfect for travellers seeking a good degree of seclusion, yet wish to be within easy striking distance of both the coastal resort of Puerto de la Cruz and the traditional town of La Orotava. Casita del Barranco stands next to a small ravine - hence its name - in the privileged area of El Rincon, surrounded by banana plantations and orchards. The setting is wonderfully peaceful, although naturally you may occasionally be aware of some farming activity nearby, and is also scenic, with views of both the ocean and Mount Teide from different parts of the house and grounds.
Casita del Barranco has been restored with much care and attention for detail, thus achieving the perfect balance between classic Canarian charm and contemporary comfort. From the terrace, you enter directly into the open-plan living area, which incorporates a well-equipped kitchen (with large fridge, 4-ring ceramic hob and microwave oven) and a breakfast bar. There are two prettily furnished bedrooms, both with twin beds, and a modern shower room. Maid service is provided at the beginning and end of each rental period, with sufficient towels and bedding provided for the length of your stay.
In spite of the property's secluded setting, it takes just 10 minutes or so by car to reach the centre of Puerto de la Cruz with its countless restaurants and excellent shopping, or the historic town of La Orotava with its fine examples of colonial architecture. Even closer are the black sand beach of Playa de Bollullo and the Rosaleda golf course. Other local attractions include Puerto's famous botanic gardens and the Loro Parque, so when you can drag yourself away from the privacy of Casita del Barranco, there is much to be explored and enjoyed.
