One of Puerto's most established hotels, the Vallemar occupies a prime position on the wide, pedestrianised Avenida de Colón, directly opposite the town's famous seawater-swimming pool complex, Lido Martiánez. What attracted us to the Vallemar - apart from this central location - was its appealingly traditional ambience. The Vallemar's management and staff believe in good old-fashioned values such as friendly service, good food and a relaxing atmosphere, and refuse to follow the current fashion for offering round-the-clock animation, believing that their guests are more than capable of entertaining themselves, given that the town's numerous attractions are easily reached on foot or by bus.
The hotel's 174 guestrooms are comfortably furnished in traditional style and are equipped with satellite TV, direct-dial telephones, safety deposit boxes, mini-bars and air-conditioning (centrally regulated). Hairdryers are provided in the en suite bathrooms, and each room has a balcony. Guests simply planning to use the hotel as a convenient base from which to enjoy all that the town has to offer will find the rear-facing standard rooms more than adequate, whilst those who enjoy relaxing on their balcony and watching the world go by should definitely opt for a sea view room.
Lovely ocean views can also be enjoyed from the hotel's first floor restaurant, where an extensive buffet breakfast sets you up for the day. Those opting for half-board can help themselves to equally tempting buffets in the evening, whilst for those who prefer to try out some of the many different local restaurants, we also offer the hotel on a bed & breakfast basis. Light lunches are available in the rooftop restaurant, from where the views are naturally even more impressive, and here on the roof you will also find a sun terrace with a small heated swimming pool - perfectly adequate for a morning swim or a quick dip. For full days relaxing by the poolside, the Lido Martiánez just across the promenade is an inviting alternative.
A 10 minute stroll along the seafront takes you to the heart of the Old Town, passing various shops, bars and restaurants catering for all tastes along the way. For a touch of glitz, Puerto's casino is located inside the Lido Martiánez complex, whilst one of the town's most popular meeting places is situated on the ground floor of the hotel itself.
Due to the fact that the hotel's entrance is in a pedestrianised area, your transfer taxi will set you down approximately 50 metres away, and guests planning to hire a car should note that parking in the surrounding streets is limited and quite expensive. However, those who enjoy staying in a central location and prefer to get around on foot or by public transport will find the hotel extremely convenient.
