If you are looking for self-catering accommodation in a peaceful and unspoilt seafront setting, yet within easy walking distance of a few local restaurants and of a sandy beach, look no further, for this is exactly what this attractive cluster of bungalows offers.
Caleto Campos stands at the northern edge of the delightfully uncommercialised fishing village of Arrieta on Lanzarote's north-east coast, separated from the ocean only by a small local road. The coast immediately in front of the complex is rocky, but there are sheltered rock pools for sea-bathing and snorkelling close by, and just to the south of Arrieta - a walk of approximately 15 minutes from the bungalows - you will find the natural sandy beach Playa de la Garita, which mainly attracts locals, and thus only tends to get busy during summer weekends. On the way to or from the beach, you will pass a few unpretentious local restaurants, and a couple more can be found in the neighbouring village of Punta Mujeres, a pleasant 10-minute stroll along the seafront in the opposite direction. In fact, the closest restaurant is almost next door to the bungalows, so eating out in the evenings really requires no effort at all.
Caleta Campos comprises twelve bungalows, arranged in an L-shape around a decent-size swimming pool, so that each enjoys lovely views across the pool to the ocean from its furnished terrace. Inside, the bungalows offer spacious accommodation for couples and families, with two bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with twin beds), a living-dining room with satellite TV (limited English-language channels), an open-plan kitchen (with a fridge-freezer, two-ring ceramic hob, microwave oven, toaster, kettle and coffeemaker), and a modern bathroom. An extra bed for a fifth person can be provided on request, as can a cot and highchair. Free WiFi is available throughout the complex.
Those keen to explore the island in depth should take advantage of our special car hire rates, but for those simply planning a thoroughly relaxing seaside holiday, a hire car is by no means essential. The nearest small supermarket is approximately 500 metres away, some of the island's most popular attractions - the volcanic caves Cuevas de los Verdes and César Manrique's Jameos del Agua - are just 3 km away, and there are buses from Arrieta to Arrecife and to a few other villages, so a certain amount of exploring can be done using public transport, although you will need to plan any trips around the not overly frequent timetables. Whether or not you opt for a hire car, Caleta Campos is a convenient choice for a peaceful holiday away from the more commercialised parts of the island.
