From Stavros village a sweep of rugged beach, backed by some simple houses, leads westwards to Blue Beach, a collection of buildings of varying styles. The near perfect beach-side setting has been a favourite location of ours for many years now and its popularity with our guests is well-deserved.
The sun rises on Blue Beach from behind Zorba's Mountain and during the day as the colours of the sea evolve through every shade of blue, the small sandy beach and the pool each have their own aficionados. During the school holidays children of several nationalities play happily in the gardens amongst the shrubs and flowers, whilst in the low season there is a much more tranquil ambience.
The taverna does steady business providing breakfast in the morning, drinks and ice-creams throughout the day as well as delicious home-cooked meals.
Other on site facilities are a tennis and baseball court and although there are over 30 apartments in assorted buildings the spacious grounds never feel crowded and peace generally reigns supreme, apart from during the barbecues or Cretan feasts which are held most weeks.
Most of the studios are in one of the newer buildings and each has a private patio or balcony, most with stunning sea views, either twin or double beds brightly colour co-ordinated with the furniture and a simple kitchenette and a shower room. Some pairs of studios have a connecting corridor with a lockable outside door, making them ideal family units with the advantage of providing two shower rooms.
In addition we can offer one, two and three bedroom apartments in various buildings which are scattered across the courtyard. Air-conditioning is provided in all the studios and apartments (now included in the price) and each is also fitted with a television and a direct-dial telephone.
Some of the apartments at Blue Beach are specially suitable for wheelchair users and the whole site is fairly wheelchair friendly. A hire car is not essential for guests at Blue Beach but we recommend one for at least part of the time, especially in the low season when the local bus service is limited.
