Backed by majestic mountains and fringed by gloriously unspoilt beaches, the southwest coast is one of Crete’s most scenic corners. Set beside a particularly stunning bay, the relaxed resort of Plakias boasts a wide range of tavernas, cafes and shops and a handful of music bars, yet remains pleasantly small and thoroughly laid back, making it ideal for couples and families alike. Its privileged setting means that Plakias is as suited to walkers and nature lovers as it is to dedicated beach enthusiasts. In fact, in our opinion, Plakias’ only shortcoming is the lack of quality accommodation with a swimming pool in the village centre, which is why we are delighted to be able to offer our guests the Phoenix Apartments, which stand in an elevated position less than 2km from the heart of the resort. Not only is this hilltop location truly peaceful, it also ensures spectacular views along the beautiful bay and out to sea. The main beach at Plakias, and several lesser-known ones, including Souda, are reached within minutes by car, but the seven studios and apartments also share a very enticing swimming pool.
The accommodation is comfortably furnished and attractively decorated. On the first and second floor are four one-bedroom apartments, each with air-conditioning, for which there is a small local charge. Each comprises a twin bedroom, a living room with a pull-out sofa bed for two people, an open plan kitchenette, a modern shower room and a covered balcony with lovely sea views. The ground floor consists of two twin-bedded studios with terraces, which can be interconnected, and there is also a two-bedroom apartment, available on request. The studios and the two-bedroom apartment are not air-conditioned, as the ground floor tends to stay naturally cooler.
With their stunning location close to one of Crete's most appealing resorts, their lovely pool and excellent accommodation, Phoenix Apartments have all the elements necessary for a truly relaxing holiday.
