Standing in delightful riverside gardens just a short distance downstream from the centre of Dalyan, the splendid Dalyan Resort will enchant guests not only with its tranquil and scenic yet convenient setting, but also with its superior levels of comfort and style. Opened in 2005, it has been attractively designed in a neoclassical style that echoes the ancient Lycian rock tombs carved into the cliff-face on the opposite riverbank. The interiors on the other hand appear to have been inspired by the colonial style of south-east Asia, with hardwood furnishings, crisp white linen and carefully chosen accessories creating a rather sophisticated ambience.
The extensive garden that surrounds the three two-storey wings of the hotel offers plenty of space for relaxing, sunbathing and admiring the fabulous river views, whether on the springy lawn or on the paved terrace that borders the large freeform swimming pool. For the more energetic, the hotel has its own tennis court (balls and racquets can be hired locally) and a fitness centre with a small gym, a sauna and a Turkish bath. A variety of beauty and massage treatments are also offered, for which a local charge applies.
The original Dalyan Resort Hotel comprises 16 standard rooms, 16 suites and 24 family rooms. All are comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated, and benefit from attractively tiled en-suite shower rooms with hairdryers (the suites and family rooms have excellent hydro-massage showers). Other amenities in all the rooms include satellite TV, direct dial telephones, mini-bars, safety deposit boxes and air-conditioning. The standard rooms are situated on the ground floor and have terraces with views of the gardens, pool, the river or the mountains. The family rooms can accommodate three people, with a main double bedroom and a separate ante-room with a single bed. Being situated on the upper floor, the family rooms do not have balconies or terraces, but do have views of both the river and the mountains. Back on the ground floor, the suites comprise a bedroom and a separate lounge with a sofa bed suitable for a third adult or up to two children; in addition, they benefit from having terraces on both sides.
Situated next to the original hotel is a more recent extension, the Dalyan Resort Spa, which has its own swimming pool and two further wings of guestrooms set in well-kept gardens. The 42 rooms are beautifully furnished and decorated, and boast the same facilities and amenities as in the original hotel. Upper-floor rooms have full-length windows opening onto a French balcony, whilst ground-floor rooms have their own terraces. As its name suggests, the Dalyan Resort Spa also boasts its own wellness centre (local charges apply) with a spa pool, sauna, Turkish bath, four rooms for massage and beauty treatments and a well-equipped gym. Please note that children under 12 years of age are not accepted in this section of the hotel, with a minimum age of 16 years for the use of the gym and spa facilities.
Stays at the Dalyan Resort Hotel & Spa are on bed & breakfast basis, leaving you the freedom to sample the many local restaurants in Dalyan for lunch or dinner. The town centre is just a 10-minute stroll away, and boasts several atmospheric bars and some tempting shops in addition to its selection of eating places. In the opposite direction, the glorious sands of Iztuzu beach are a 25-minute boat ride away using the hotel's own service, offered on alternate days, for those occasions when you can tear yourself away from the Dalyan Resort's lovely swimming pools.
