This charming cottage stands on its own beside a quiet country lane and boasts lovely views across unspoilt countryside down towards the island's north coasr. Being of recent construction, Casa La Sabina offers accommodation of a good modern standard, but thanks to the use of traditional materials including lava stones and natural wood, the house also has a distinct local character and blends harmoniously into its natural setting.
With two separate bedrooms and a spacious split-level living-dining room, Casa La Sabina is ideal for a family, two couples travelling together or just a couple who prefer to have a little more space. The large, wooden front door leads directly into the airy dining area and open-plan kitchen, which is equipped with a large fridge-freezer, ceramic hob and both conventional and microwave ovens, as well as all the necessary utensils. From here, wooden stairs lead up to an open galley under the eaves where you will find a comfortable corner sofa and the satellite TV set (with limited English language channels). Back at ground level there are two bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with two singles) and two bathrooms (one with a roll-top bathtub, the other with a shower cubicle. There is also a washing machine, iron/board and a hairdryer, and WiFi is provided free of charge.
There is a brick-built barbecue area on the sheltered terrace at the rear of the house, and a patio table and chairs to enjoy al-fresco meals, as well as a couple of sun-loungers in which to relax and take in the views. For the more energetic, there are good walking trails in the surrounding area.
The nearest local restaurant on the edge of the hamlet of Guarazoca is only 250 metres away as the crow flies although to get there involves a drive of approximately 1 km or a 15-minute walk. The viewpoint restaurant at the Mirador de la Peña, which was designed by Canarian artist César Manrique, is approximately 2 km to the west, whilst the nearest small supermarkets are 2-3 km away in the opposite direction in the village of Mocanal. The small island capital, Valverde, can be reached by car in 10-15 minutes, and the airport and ferry port both lie a few kilometres beyond.
