Many of our guests have asked us to find them an appealing and peaceful location on the popular Bodrum peninsula and we were therefore delighted when some old friends of ours with just such a property recently agreed that we should include it in our programme.
The Tamarisk Beach Hotel's whitewashed two-storey buildings, reached by paths that meander through flower-filled gardens, are attractive enough in themselves but their situation, separated from the long, tamarisk fringed beach only by the large pool and dining areas, really does make the property very special indeed.
There are twenty-four bright and spacious twin rooms and seventeen airy suites each with a double bedroom and a living room that can accommodate two children in twin beds. Both the rooms and the suites are simply but prettily decorated, are air-conditioned, have mini-bars for those all important cool drinks and hairdryers in the well fitted shower rooms.
The poolside dining area makes an appealing setting for enjoying a leisurely breakfast whilst planning the day's activities, perhaps a little gentle exercise on a windsurfer, a stroll along the seafront to Ortakent, a shopping trip to nearby Bodrum or even a longer trip to marvel at the ruins of Ephesus. If a relaxed day by the pool is your activity of choice, the little bar serves simple lunchtime snacks and of course refreshing drinks are always on hand. Dinner is normally served al fresco and enjoying freshly cooked local produce, perhaps washed down with a chilled glass or two of local wine, accompanied by the sound of the sea and the light of the stars is not at all a bad way to end the day.
The hotel's watersports centre on the beach just in front offers a range of activities and tuition, which can be reserved in advance and paid for locally (please scroll down for details).
Despite its idyllic setting on the Bodrum peninsula's longest beach, the Tamarisk Beach is not at all isolated as Ortakent's main promenade, with its handful of shops and eateries, is just a short stroll away and Bodrum, with its sophisticated bustle and atmospheric castle, is less than twenty minutes by dolmus or taxi.
