Just beyond the headland to the west of Makriyialos' attractive fishing harbour, lies Kalamokania, a stretch of beach, less frequented than the long expanse of the main village beach. Here Perigiali Apartments occupy a slightly elevated position with the pretty gardens facing the beach and the beguiling expanse of the Libyan Sea.
The six one-bedroom apartments are all located on the ground floor of the attractive building and each has its own patio, some with sea-views, within the flower filled, gated gardens which are accessed from the lane by a short flight of steps. During the summer, the owners, George and Despina, often visit their penthouse at Perigiali to tend the gardens and enjoy the peace of their seaside retreat.
Within the gardens there are attractively shaded outdoor seating and dining areas to enjoy a barbecue or just a convivial drink before wandering to the two nearby beach tavernas or taking the five minute stroll into the harbour along the well lit path that drops down over the headland. Although there is no swimming pool at Perigiali guests are welcome to use the swimming pool at Villea Village and join in all the activities there.
The apartments each have independent entrances on three sides of the building. They are simply furnished and each has either a double or twin bedroom and a bathroom, with shower. Each of the separate living rooms has a kitchenette with two electric rings and a fridge and a divan suitable for sleeping an extra person. The two apartments at the rear have a connecting door between their lounges and can thus be rented as a two bedroom, two bathroom unit. Recently, Perigiali's owners have installed a free wiFi network for their guests, as well as providing toasters and satellite TV (limited English-language channels) in each apartment.
Each apartment is air conditioned, a definite bonus during the hot summer months and for a cooling dip the beach is only a few metres stroll away. With the facilities of Makriyialos accessible by foot in just minutes Perigiali is the perfect spot for either a relaxed beachside holiday or as a peaceful base by the sea for the more energetic explorer. There is a good bus service to both Ierapetra and Sitia but for those who prefer to explore by car we offer special car hire rates, provided you collect your car upon arrival at the airport.
