Kythea Resort Hotel

Standing in an elevated position at the northern end of Agia Pelagia, the 4-star Kythea Resort is considered one of the island's most stylish and comfortable hotels. Its position ensures that both the sub terrace that surrounds the hotel's enticing swimming pool and the individual balconies or terraces of the 32 guestrooms all face south and afford sweeping views along the entire beach and village of Agia Pelagia to the rocky cliffs and rugged mountains beyond.

Spread across five floors, and reached by a lift, the guestrooms are spacious and well appointed, with air-conditioning, satellite TV (limited English-language channels), fridges, safety-deposit boxes, telephone and free WiFi. Hairdryers are provided in the modern en-suite shower rooms, and each room has a large, furnished balcony or terrace where you can spend hours soaking up the sun and admiring the panorama. A limited number of family rooms with an additional sofa-bed are also available.

The same beguiling views can also be enjoyed from the breakfast room where an extensive buffet is laid on every morning. Light lunches and a limited dinner menu are available during the season, but the centre of Agia Pelagia with its tavernas, cafés and mini-markets is just a 10-minute walk away along the seafront, and the moonlit stroll back to the hotel after dinner is just about the right length to aid your digestion, before perhaps settling into the comfortable lounge and bar area for a cocktail or a nightcap.

The nearest beach is approximately 600 metres from Kythea, and just a little further is the village's small harbour, followed by further stretches of beach, so for those simply planning a relaxing break, choosing where to pitch your towel may be the most taxing decision of the day, bearing in mind that the hotel's pool area in another appealing option.
